This act was signed into law in 2010 to make healthcare more affordable for Americans. The goal is to get more people covered, and here are some ways it accomplishes that:

- It requires states to make insurance available for children who are not covered under a family’s plan.
- It prevents insurance companies from dropping someone’s insurance if they become ill.
